A Powerful Tool For Magicians

No matter what type of magician you are, you will benefit from something I discovered last week. It is a 'tool' that will help card magicians, coin magicians, sleight of hand artists, and really, anybody who performs with their hands.

A few weeks ago my father had a car accident. He was badly hurt, but survived. They say the strength in his hands and arms helped save him. He had been working out using something called a "Power Ball" and he swears by it. My mother also has some artheritis in her hands and she has also been using this exercise ball with amazing results. I decided to buy one and have started using it. I have to tell you, it is one of the most amazing tools for magicians and musicians (I am both) I have ever seen. If you want to build up super strength in your hands, wrists and arms, you must look at this instrument.

It's strange to describe, other than it's a ball with something like a gyroscope inside. You start it off by pulling a string and an invisible force makes it spin - however it works doesn't matter. The end result is a great exercise that will really help improve strength and agility in your hands.

So yesterday while roaming the mall at the east coast, I came across this Power Ball. I used to think it was one of those bullshit benefit talk until I read Paul Romhany's blog - but I was still a non-believer. So I picked up the item and tired to get it started.

Boy was I wrong! The Power Ball was actually quite fun! Just 20 seconds into it and I could feel the thing working on my muscles! It's quite amazing, I think I'm going to buy one of it soon!

Poker Face

Every magician should know a few goofy facts about poker cards to share with others while you are sitting at the table before a game at a party. This will really show how knowledgeable you are with your art. ;)

Perhaps you’ve already seen or heard about this connection between poker cards and the calendar, but it’s a pretty interesting poker fact worth repeating.

The 52 cards of the ordinary playing deck are said to symbolize the 52 weeks of the year.

It is also thought that the four suits relate to the four seasons:
Spades = Winter
Clubs = Spring
Hearts = Summer
Diamonds = Autumn

The first week of a cartomancy year is March 1st to March 7th and is ruled by the first card in the deck: The Ace in each suit rules the first week of it’s corresponding season.

The Kings rule the second, the Queen rule the third, Jack rule the fourth, Tens rule the fifth . . . and so on with the Twos ruling the last week.

The last week of the year being February 22nd to February 28th. The extra day in a leap-year is under the ruler-ship of the Joker.

It is said the 365 days appear in the ordinary cards in at least 2 ways:
1. Choose any three cards and they give a possible combination of seven possible meanings. Seven being the number of days in the week, of course, and when multiplied by the number of cards (or weeks in a year) then you have 364. When you add the Joker the total will be 365.

2. Add the number of total pips (symbols) on all the numbered cards including the Ace. Add in the number of court (face) cards, plus their total value on the basis of 10. Now add in the number 13 (number of cards in each suit) and you should have the following: 220 = number of pips on the 40 numbered cards plus 12 = number of court cards plus 120 = value of court cards plus 13 = number of cards in each suit which, when tallied together, equals 365!

Weird isn’t it?!

This coincidence wasn't by chance, poker cards were in fact used for fortune telling before the tarot cards were popularized.
